Our Story

We all need a companion.

When we talk about psychological counselling, I often mention that the clients have already been putting in a lot of effort to cope with the issues. They are the professionals in their own lives. What is most important for them is having someone to accompany them through this challenging phase. Dori had been contemplating whether we could offer a sense of companionship to people when we transitioned to physical products. Later, she discovered the products we now carry, realising that these figures are not just toys, gifts, or decorations. Each product has its own name, personality, and story, conveying the sense of companionship we wish to provide.

During her on-site visit to Nepal, Dori observed the artisans at the needle-felt factory, noticing their dedication to the craftsmanship and their commitment to pollution-free and sustainable practices. 

She also came into contact with the local children and was deeply moved by the farewell rituals for the deceased at the Cremation Temple at Pashupatinath in Nepal. This experience sparked her thinking about what she could do to make a difference. Upon returning to Australia, we set out to establish Heart of Collins, in the notion of Your Felt Companion.

Our fabulous characters are made of top-quality sheep’s wool from New Zealand. They are entirely sustainable, biodegradable, and handmade with love, using traditional needle felting and wet felting techniques. Every adorable accessory or wacky expression has been lovingly hand-stitched using organic cotton thread or needle felted. There is no glue in any of our products, and the production is pollution-free.

Every product purchased supports the skilled artisans in Nepal, enabling them to live independently with access to safe, discrimination-free work with a fair rate of pay.
